FUNDRAISER REPORT Tuesday, September 29, 2020, we dropped off our fundraising contributions to Veronica the Vet. She was very pleased at our success. She also showed us a large jar full of money that sits on her desk. She has been asking for donations for us and that jar was getting heavy.  Tina dropped off some fundraiser items for sale, that he lovely husband created. They are fabulous hand made cards and tiny bags and boxes, all aimed at Christmas giving. So, if you are there, pick up one or two. I have already bought a bunch and they will come in handy very soon!  WE THANK EVERYONE who has donated to our efforts. You can see their names on our GRATITUDE WALL - click here  IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND OUR FUNDRAISERS, then here is our DONATE page... click here   TRAPPING REPORT Tina was up very early on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.  FUNDRAISER REPORT We had a super fun time at our 3rd Last Friday of the Month Community Fundraiser. The weather was absolutely perfect and fresh. The sun shining and MariPaz, of our neighbourhood cafe at the Tennis club, made us hot croissants with jam. Very lucky. xx There was a great selection of high quality items at the Rastro. Thank you to all who dropped off their boxes of items. Bruce, who is our RASTRO KING was the ultimate at set up and sales as he entertained buyers with affordable treasures and reminded them of our cause. His lovely wife Trudi was also on hand to help folks make decisions and take home some fabulous prizes. The Bake Sale was also well attended. One really nice woman gave me 30 euros for 6 muffins! Everyone who pre-ordered their muffins came and picked them up. Leah baked some savoury snacks and also some sweet treats. Marianne baked chocolate / hazelnuts loafs, that were sold by the half size. Carol Lynn baked her famous banana bread, which lasted about...

TRAPPING REPORT - September 23, 2020

TRAPPING REPORT On Monday, September 21, 2020 three trappers were out and about in Cumbre in an effort to get some work done. At 8:00, Hancy started to feed the feral cats on her street. She does this every day. Because she feeds them, she can get up close to them. Hancy grabbed one cat and put it in a carrier box. However, it was not happy about this event and jumped right out and escaped in a flash. Luckily, he was a hungry young tabby boy looking for his breakfast, so when he came back to the food bowl, Hancy grabbed him again and put him into the carrier box once more. This time Hancy was quicker than the cat and got the door closed before he could free himself again! He was secured by 8:40 Tina went over to trap in Florence's garden on Magnolias at 8:30. Florence is a French neighbour and cat lover who feeds many feral cats in her garden. The trappers were shocked to see that several cats were keen to enter the trap at one time. This is not good. It is too dangerous if the...

TRAPPING REPORT - SEPTEMBER 19, 2020

TRAPPING REPORTS Early in the week , trapper Jacqueline set up a trap in her zone of Monte Cala. Since Jacky feeds so many cats, they are always around her home. However, many have fortunately been neutered and tipped already, so the challenge is trapping a new baby maker! Finally around 10:45 a male tabby made his way into the trap and snapped the gate. He was whisked off to Veronica the Village Vet. At 13:00 another team trapper, Jenny, picked him up in his cozy carrier box and took him home to recover. He was later released in the late afternoon to be reunited with is street gang.    Later in the week , Tina and Jenny were trapping at 8:15 on Calle Murillo, and it started to rain. At first it was just a sprinkle but then it started to pour down and all the cats disappeared. They had to try another idea. Thirty minutes later, Tina found a dry place to set up the trap and try again. Well, it didn't take long and three hungry cats were crowded around the trap. By looking at th...

TRAPPING REPORT . SEPTEMBER 16, 2020

TRAPPING REPORT The Trapping Team are really rocking and rolling with two more cats in one trip to the vet.  The team this time was again Jenny and her daughter Evie with Tina our resident Trap Trainer. They were focused once again on Monte Cala. This time there were two males who found their ways into the capture. There was a black male and also a black/white male. Morning seems to be a good time to trap.  At 8.20 am Jenny and Tina each prepared one trap. Five  Minutes later the black male, who the trappers know and named Beany Boo , smelled the seductive flavour of tuna and entered Tina's trap. He touched the trigger and that was him in the cage ready to go to the vets. In Jenny's trap, she prepared it with wet cat food mixed with a little tuna this combo lured more cats, but they had already been neutered as their ears were tagged. So, with a little more patience and time a black/white male, also know to the trappers and named Oreo, came up to the trap and grabbed a b...

FIRST CATS OF THE FALL TRAPPING SEASON

Image
TRAPPING REPORT   Jenny and her daughter Evie were the first of the September 2020 trapping season to capture two cats. According to Jenny, the cats were young ones, around 6 months old and from the same litter. They seemed to know the cats in the Monte Cala area. In fact, the cats knew Evie who is 11 years of age and already an experience trapper, and she was able to just pick up the grey cat and put it right in the trap.   The grey cat was a male and the tabby was a female. She needed a bit of food to entice her into the trap but she was secured in about 15 minutes by Evie. The cats were captured around 8:30 or 9:00 and off to the vet they went by opening time at 10:00. Veronica the vet rang Jenny at 13:00 to say the cats were ready for pickup. The male was the first to be released and the female a few hours after. Both were happy to be back home.😻   FUNDRAISER REPORT Thanks to a donation of hand made cards and gift bags from a local citizen at the Cumbre Community Co...
