 FUNDRAISER REPORT

We had a super fun time at our 3rd Last Friday of the Month Community Fundraiser. The weather was absolutely perfect and fresh. The sun shining and MariPaz, of our neighbourhood cafe at the Tennis club, made us hot croissants with jam. Very lucky. xx

There was a great selection of high quality items at the Rastro. Thank you to all who dropped off their boxes of items. Bruce, who is our RASTRO KING was the ultimate at set up and sales as he entertained buyers with affordable treasures and reminded them of our cause. His lovely wife Trudi was also on hand to help folks make decisions and take home some fabulous prizes.

The Bake Sale was also well attended. One really nice woman gave me 30 euros for 6 muffins! Everyone who pre-ordered their muffins came and picked them up. Leah baked some savoury snacks and also some sweet treats. Marianne baked chocolate / hazelnuts loafs, that were sold by the half size. Carol Lynn baked her famous banana bread, which lasted about two minutes on the table. Margaret was there to help out. All was delicious and all was gone, gone, gone!! 

Tina was there handing out new flyers that explain the CCCC programme and why it is so necessary for our community. Near the end of the event, she accepted a 100 euros donation from a cat lover, Florence, who is also active in aiding the trappers with their tasks.


There were so many lovely people and the atmosphere was wonderful. We are so fortunate to have this creative and caring community. And later after the event, another cat love, Uschi, donated 50 euros.

I think that while other talk about contributing to the community, this community is taking action and getting the job done!

"Successful Rescue of a Young Kitten in Magnolias Zone" Trapper Report "At the end of September, a couple from the Magnolias zone, who love CumbreCats, asked for help in trapping a young kitten that had recently appeared. Since there were many cats in the area, I used a remote-controlled trap. The couple had not fed the cats the evening before or on the morning of the trapping, so we had a lot of hungry cats around. With the help of the cat feeder, who lured the already-neutered cats to another location with food, the inexperienced young kitten became so captivated by the tasty pieces inside the trap that he entered quickly. I was able to press the CLOSE button on the trap. However, his mother was smarter. From the start, she made a wide circle around the trap and showed no intention of being caught, so she remains on the to-do list. MONTE CALA HAS A NEW FAMILY  TRAPPER REPORT One of our part-time cat feeders in Monte Cala was informed by her neighbours about a new mother cat and her kittens. She went out, examined them all, and reported back to me. Together, we quickly devised a trapping plan. First, I focused on a mother cat with a very beautiful kitten that looked like a Siamese. As usual, the mother was black, like so many cats in that area.  Since the female cat was used to the feeder, who had fed her very little the evening before, the mother cat was quite hungry the next morning and already waiting when we prepared the trap. We used a remote-controlled trap because a few already neutered cats were hanging around. The feeder lured the others away with food, leaving the mother cat to enter the trap quickly. She was successfully trapped. Since we were already in this area, we decided to continue trapping. We set up both traps, the normal one and the remote-controlled trap, and then the waiting started....

LETTER FROM BEAR - A Recipent of the CumbreCats Elder Cat Programme

Good morning, everyone. My name is Bear, and I live on Cumbre del Sol, a lovely mountain community in the province of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. My passport says my name is Osito, which I prefer because it sounds more regal, of course. However, Mom insists on calling me Bear or, even worse, Beary-Bear. But she loves me so much that I'm willing to live with the little names she comes up with. Don’t tell her, but I am very fond of her too for a number of reasons. If she knew, I would probably never hear the end of it. My story began about eight years ago, more or less. The vet wasn’t quite sure. I don’t consider myself a real senior, although I am starting to feel the weather changes and the cold winters in Spain in my bones. Now, if you are a house cat, this is less of a problem because you have your heated mansion, your lovely warm basket, or your human’s bed to keep you warm.
