  The Trapping week only brought results on Monday, March 15, 2021 when 2 teams were out with traps. Tina had informed Manfred, our community cat feeder to kindly not feed the cats in the evening nor first thing in the morning, so that they would be hungry and be attracted to the food in the traps. He agreed to feed after the trapping session and Tina was very happy with is co operation. Tina started 8:00 and prepared the traps with fresh sardines and immediately 4 cats started to snoop around the trap. Out of these 4, Tina could see that 2 cats were tagged so already done, however 2 still needed to be fixed.    After a few minutes, Tina got lucky and one went into the trap and launched the trigger. Down came the door and it was trapped. The cats heard the "clack" of the trap and dispersed.  After a few minutes, a young and tiny, maybe 8 month old, cat appeared and quickly approached the trap because of the smell of the sardines. Our only TrapperMan... Robert, handed over a smaller than usual sum of  487,09 euros to our partner Veronica the village vet. Our Fundraising efforts have been very difficult these last 4 months because of the Covid restrictions. Ugh!  HOWEVER, Thanks to the kind donations of some very caring and special people, named proudly on our GRATITUDE WALL , we have cobbled a bit of cash together to get a few more cats neutered.  Our DONATION CANS were gathered and added to this total.   SPECIAL SUPPORTER STORY... On Monday, February 22, 2021 - Radka, a CumbreCat supporter from Pueblo de la Paz who feeds the feral cats in her garden, was able to easily grab a female from the clan and put her in a carrier box to take to Veronica the vet.  Radka also picked up the cat and let it recover in her home before returning her to the colony. She also paid for the neutering so that the funds did not have to be taken from the CumbreCats money supply. Radka is a special supporter who not only feeds and cares for the CumbreCats, but also pays for a neutering. This is an amazing person!   Trapper Tina was out at 8:00 on Monday, February 15, 2021 in the Begonias zone. She prepared a trap with newspaper and tasty wet fishy food. Her goal was to trap 2 males but to her disappointment, there were no cats around. It could be due to the fresh 9 degree weather that morning? She rattled the biscuit bag and spread little tasty sardine pieces down on the ground with the hopes to lure the cats. Finally at 8:30,  one of the males came along. He was hungry so he did not hesitate to enter the trap and quickly the door snapped shut. He was trapped. One down, one to go!   Tina had to wait another hour until the second sexy male finally appeared. He was black and white and had many scratches from fighting. He was also very clever and made a big circle round the trap and decided to walk up and down the street waiting for the regular cat feeder. Tina decided to dropped off the trap close to him and tempt him with a different type of food until he could not resist the new ...

The trapping team of Tina and Andrea headed out on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 . Tina started out in Begonias at 8:00 in the black cat zone. At the beginning there was only one cat in the street. She set up a trap. She turned her back for one minute and she heard the trap of off and she turned around to see a cat already in the trap. Sadly, this cat had an ear tip, so out he went. The sound of the trap shutting was a clue to other cats that its not a good time to come around and to be careful. In the meantime, Tina had to lure two young kittens away from the trap with food. After about 35 minutes, a strong boy, who Tina knew and played games with her last week, came over to the trap. Tina had covered the trigger with newspaper and this worked well because the big tom cat stepped on the trigger and was trapped. which washed himself last week in the trap.
