APRIL 30, 2023 - FUNDRAISER REPORT

Image
We owe the "fun" in Fundraiser to a fabulous group of very kind people who supported our Feed The Cats campaign on Saturday 29 April 2023. The team at Antiquary Restaurante in our village of Benitachell lovingly prepared a fantastic pizza lunch with the most delicious tiramisu you can imagine. It started with drinks, then salad and pizza and yes, we had tiramisu and coffee at the end. Afterwards there was a raffle along with some very strange cat jokes which elicited a few sad groans, but all in good fun! We managed to gather everyone for a happy group photo with sunglasses before the afternoon came to an end. A total of 324.00 Euros was raised, plus two bags of cat food. We will spend this money at Victor's pet food shop in the village and see if we can get a discount on bulk orders of cat food to help all our dedicated cat carers. THANK YOU * THANK YOU * THANK YOU & LET'S DO IT AGAIN!!!  PHOTO GALLERY ***

HELPING THE HEALTH OF OUR COMMUNITY CATS Trapper's Report: "A few days ago I saw a new 'face' in the midst of the usual 'morning cat choir performance' at 6.45am. A shy cat who kept a bit in the background. I saw her again the next morning and also the next but one. She did not look very well, and I decided to capture her, which was a really easy as she was very hungry and very slow. At this point I did not see that her ear was clipped, so I took her to Veronica's to have her neutered, saying that I was not sure about her general health. Well, the poor girl had two ulcers under her tongue, but she was clipped! So Veronica gave her antibiotics, cortisone and a tablet for worms, and I was able to take her back. I decided to call her Maria Catharina, because that's my sister's name, and because I caught the cat on my sister's 65th birthday. Yesterday I saw Maria Catharina sunbathing in the garden, and she looks much better. I think she has chosen a...

HAPPY AND PROUD! Trapper Report "This week we were finally able to capture and neuter Felice, who we know is a mother and grandmother.  Over the last 2.5 years, we have watched her give birth to at least 3 litters with a total of 8 surviving kittens. Twice she has brought them into our shed, and once under our bedroom window. We have caught and neutered all 8 of her kittens, but have never managed to catch Felice herself, who keeps hanging around our street and immediate area. She is so wild about any strange cat or dog that happens to be curious that she can defend herself and her kittens.  Over the last few days, she has been consistently hanging around near our car, our street and our garden. This week she was actually trapped! It was a surreal experience because she did not give a single cry, moan or outburst of protest during the drive to the vet. It was if she said, "Yes, I have made up my mind, enough is enough!"  Just half an hour before on the same morning, we c...
