AUGUST 29, 2022 - TRAPPING REPORT

Image
GOOD NEWS We begin our report with a heart-warming story that shows that there are animal lovers of all ages. Head Trapper Report: "On Tuesday 23 August 2022, I received a report that one of our spayed black CumbreCats was injured in the begonia area. A German family who were on holiday contacted various people until they found me. They were good and sent me a video and photos of the cat. Our regular cat feeder had already informed me about the sighting of the injured cat three weeks ago, but of course the cat disappeared. This usually happens when holidaymakers are here and feed the cats as part of their holiday adventure. In this case, it was a good thing because the family's children gained the cat's trust. Two little boys who regularly fed her noticed that the cat was limping and informed their parents because they were so worried.  I had a conversation with the family that the best thing to do was to trap the cat. The father picked up the trap, and they started feedin...

On 9 August 2022, our chief trapper received a call for help. This is her report. "A community member from the Dalias zone sent me photos of some CumbreCats that had moved into her private garden. The photos showed that the adults had not been neutered.  I made an appointment to come to her garden. I think she stared at me for at least 30 minutes. I shook the bag of biscuits to lure her closer to me. Little by little, she moved towards me. Very quickly I prepared my normal trap with food, activated it and hid behind the car.  I could see her circle the trap a few times. She was very hungry and entered the trap, touched the trigger and was caught. I was very happy to be successful - especially with the mum. I c...

GREETINGS TO all . On June 24th, 2022, we toasted the 2nd anniversary of the launch of the CumbreCats campaign with a couple bottles of nice cava. We had a great time with our teams and supporters and continue to be overjoyed by the care and compassion of our neighbours. As the great ancient Greek philosopher Aesop once said, "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." WHERE? I just want to take a moment to let you know why you are not seeing our trappers in your area . Firstly, tourists are now feeding the CumbreCats as part of their holiday experience. While this is fine , it results in the cats being removed from their regular feeding areas and the protective eye of their handlers . Secondly, traffic has increased and the CumbreCats do not like the sound of cars, so it 's best for them to stay hidden. And finally , it 's too hot. They will try to stay under...
