TREATING OUR CUMBRECATS WITH CARE

Trapper's Report

"As many of you know, it is always very difficult to get a cat that has already been caught into a trap a second time. Nevertheless, I tried again. The poor CumbreCat has been having problems with parasites for some time now, and they are massively bothering him. But mostly they are so cautious and fearful that you can not treat them without trapping them.

Equipped with all kinds of fish and tasty treats, I started my attempt. One difficulty is that in Begonias, there is an already neutered female, and she is totally greedy and has absolutely no fear of anything. When she smells something to eat, she always runs into any trap. So I have to keep her busy so that the focused cat has enough time to go into the trap. However, since I trapped his friend a couple of weeks ago, and he did not come back, he was very wary. For your information, his friend was very sick and had to be put down.

The focal one danced around the trap, half in and half out, trying to get food in other places. I kept rushing to him with the trap, luring the others away and so on. A challenge of 1 hour. But finally he went into the end, and I was able to press CLOSE.

He was really very angry, and I got a lot of scratches on my leg. But that was my fault. I did not cover the whole trap. and 5-10 cm were free, and he really grabbed my leg. And again I learned a new lesson.

MY ADVICE: Be very careful!!!

I left him with Veronica and 1 hour later he was treated. Veronica cleaned his ears. He had mites and she treated them, and for his skin, he was given a 13-week medication. I let him recover until he was fully awake again and took him back to his home.

I was so happy that our group - CumbreCats - was able to help him."

ANOTHER SUCCESS IN THE BLACK!

Trapper's Report

"I was back in Dalias to catch the second of the black gangs (3 in all, one already done) with the help of residents of that zone. As usual, I prepared the trap. First with the daily food they know and the residents were so kind and helpful to keep an eye on the trap. 3 hours later, the second black CumbreCat was finally sitting in the trap. He had to stay with the residents for one night and the next morning I took him to Veronica, our vet. He was neutered and released to his cat family in the afternoon."

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Once again, a terribly careless person has run over and killed a cat and simply left it lying in the road. This time very close to the Pepe la Sal supermarket. Fortunately, one of our official caretakers found him and took him to Veronica the vet, where she took care of the cremation. We can only hope that the divine universe finds its own form of justice for this poor little soul. There is absolutely no traffic on the Cumbre del Sol, and no reason to drive carelessly! PLEASE NOTE!!! WHAT TO DO IF YOU FIND A DEAD SOUL? *(Cat or other animal) Call ARTURO AT THE TOWNHALL or better yet, send him a WhatsApp with a photo and directions of where you found it. He will pick up the dead animal and take care of the cremation. Then inform CumbreCats at CumbreCats@gmail.com, and it is a good idea to post in our CumbreCats group on Facebook - to inform its loved ones.

HELP US INFORM THE TOURISTS ABOUT NOT FEEDING OUR CUMBRECATS BUT GIVING THEM FRESH WATER

Tourist season is upon us, and we need to get the word out there to PLEASE NOT FEED THE CATS LEFTOVERS!!

Feeding cats human leftovers can be risky because their digestive systems are different from ours. Cats have different nutritional requirements than humans, and some human foods can be toxic to them. If a cat is not used to eating human food and is suddenly given a large amount, they may experience digestive upset, such as vomiting and diarrhoea.

An official feeder saw a person putting Rice on the street for the cats? Not only that it is so unhealthy for them, it lures the seagull and other animals, it looks so dirty and terrible.

Cats are not leftover eaters.

If you want to give a treat, it's best to stick to cat-friendly foods that are specifically designed for them. You can also consult CumbreCats or the village veterinarian to determine the best treats based on their individual needs and health status.

REMEMBER WATER!!!

Please offer them fresh water. Due to the Hot Season they need a lot of fresh water . Pool water is not healthy for them. If they have no water, kidney problems will appear.
