"Successful Rescue of a Young Kitten in Magnolias Zone"
Trapper Report
"At the end of September, a couple from the Magnolias zone, who love CumbreCats, asked for help in trapping a young kitten that had recently appeared. Since there were many cats in the area, I used a remote-controlled trap. The couple had not fed the cats the evening before or on the morning of the trapping, so we had a lot of hungry cats around.
With the help of the cat feeder, who lured the already-neutered cats to another location with food, the inexperienced young kitten became so captivated by the tasty pieces inside the trap that he entered quickly. I was able to press the CLOSE button on the trap. However, his mother was smarter. From the start, she made a wide circle around the trap and showed no intention of being caught, so she remains on the to-do list.
The cat feeders took the kitten to Veronica, the vet, which was a great help as they handled all the driving. They also refused a CumbreCats vet voucher and insisted on paying themselves. That evening, the sweet young kitten was safely released back to his home area."
"Successful Trapping of a Feline Family in Girasole Zone"
Trapper Report
In early August, I went to the Girasole zone with the goal of trapping a small family: a black mother, her black kitten, and three beautiful gray siblings. I had the help of one of our loyal caretakers, an excellent cat feeder.
Unfortunately, his neighbor turned out to be a total nuisance, constantly finding excuses to disturb us. I asked him several times to be supportive and stay quiet for at least 90 minutes, but he refused. He kept coming over to talk, and with the added distraction of cars passing by, my goal seemed to be slipping away. Despite the challenges, I was thrilled to trap the young mother and her very hungry male kitten. The kitten, inexperienced and starving, entered the trap quickly. The mother was more cautious—circling, watching, wandering into another garden, and then returning.
But eventually, she went into the trap as well. I dropped them off with Veronica, the village vet. Luckily, one of our trapping team members went down the mountain, picked them up after their procedure, and allowed them to recover at her place before releasing them back to their home. It was fantastic!
CONTINUED
Two weeks later, I returned to Girasoles to try trapping more of the family. The cats were very hungry, and one of the gray kittens quickly entered the trap. Although the neighbors had visitors with a dog, they cooperated by keeping the dog inside. However, 30 minutes later, the water service arrived, and I had to give up.
I then decided to drive to Pueblo de la Paz to check for any unneutered CumbreCats. Fortunately, I spotted one. With the traps already prepared with food, I set them up. After just 20 minutes, a young male kitten was caught. I took him to the village vet, and once again, a team member helped with the pick-up, recovery, and release. Teamwork is always the best option!
WATER REPORT
"Community Effort Brings Continued Water Support for CumbreCats"
We are happy to report that all of our official cat feeders now have water for their CumbreCats! Thanks to the contributions from our supporters, the water was distributed immediately. With all this effort, the positive energy reached the town hall in Benitachell, which has now agreed to continue providing water support!
We love it when support and kindness leads....
to even more love and generosity!
