NOVEMBER 6, 2022 - TRAPPING REPORT

GOOD NEIGHBOUR HELPS OFTEN

Since September 2022, this handsome neighbour of Lirios has caught four CumbreCats. His willingness to be a good person and help with our campaign has made him an expert!

He can now tell which cats are actually CumbreCats and which are not. He knows all the steps from trapping to going to the vet to the recovery and release phases. This lucky trapper even accidentally caught a turtle.

We are so grateful to have this neighbour and his lovely wife in our campaign. They are also caregivers and feeders. They are simply the best people the universe needs, full of kindness and generosity.

Thank you from all of us ❤

DALIAS TRAPPING ALMOST DONE

In the Dalias zone there is a garden called Happy Garden. It is home to a family of CumbreCats. Now that the kittens are old enough to be neutered, our head trapper has set to work.

Trapper Report:

"I started this week in this garden on Monday morning. The day before I had asked the caretaker not to feed the CumbreCats, because when they are hungry it is easier to catch them

I was equipped with two normal traps, 1 remote controlled trap, 2 transporter boxes and one carrier box. My wish was to catch six cats, but I knew that was a bit too much. But I had to stay confident!

I quickly prepared all the traps and set them up in different places in the garden. A couple of kittens immediately went into the remote-controlled trap, but they blocked the door, and it would not close. But that was my fault - grrrrrr. O.k. I had to fix it, but of course the cats disappeared when I got closer

I shook the bag of biscuits and quietly hid behind the bushes. It took me 10 minutes to wait for the first automatic trap to close. Yes - the first black macho was in the trap. I covered the trap, took him outside and then put him in the transport box.

I prepared the trap once again at the usual feeding spot. In the meantime, more cats showed up, but they did not trust the situation. 20 minutes later, a younger black kitten could not resist the tuna in the remote-controlled trap and went in. I snapped the trap shut, and the second kitten was caught. I also put this cat into another transport box.

I put the trap back in the garden. Then a longer waiting time began. A female checked all the traps from the outside but did not enter the trap. Half an hour later I heard the beautiful sound of CLACK from the automatic trap. Fantastic - the 3rd kitten was inside. A very beautiful female kitten with a wonderful face - such a beauty. I covered the trap and put it in my car to wait until the next kitten was caught

Now I have to wait another 15 minutes - 45 minutes ;-) But what luck, the 4th cat was in the trap.

I dropped them all off at Veronica's. By 2pm they were all neutered. They recovered until the evening in a quiet room

I was so thrilled with my efforts that I tried again the next morning. Fortunately, one young male felt hungry enough to enter the trap. This boy slept until 5:30 when I released him to his gang.

Three very clever females I have yet to catch. They always dance around the trap at a safe distance. They are so clever, but that's how females are. But it is important that we catch them all, and we will."
