TRAPPERS REPORTS
On Wednesday, May 18, 2022 our head trapper was very pleased to report that she finally trapped our notorious ladies man, the macho Casanova II. This manly tabby from Magnolias has been making babies for a long time and just since we started this programme, the trappers think his is responsible for at least 15 kittens!
TRAPPER REPORT
“It was a Tuesday evening when I saw Mr. Casanova II appear in front of my house. He was looking for food. This CumbreCat macho is well known in Magnolias. He is an aggressive boy, and he is always looking for the ladies!
Fortunately, our remote control trap was with me. I set it up as quickly as possible and prepared it with a tasty dish of fish food. It didn't take long. He was in my trap. I pressed the close button. He sure was not happy, but I was totally happy! 👍
He had to spend the night at my house before I could take him in the morning to Veronica our local vet and campaign partner. She was really impressed because he was a giant boy!
After his surgery, I picked him up, and he recovered in my house. I released him back into my garden. The CumbreCat community of carers and feeds were all very happy to hear the news!”
On Friday, May 27, 2022, the caregiver of Kalmias had a call to help a neighbour to trap a CumbreCat that was living in her garden. She went over with the trap and tried, but the cat was too afraid of the trap, and it was impossible. While she was there, she noticed another CumbreCat that needed his baby-makers nipped too.
So, the Kalmias caregiver left the trap with the neighbour with the instructions to put food inside and acclimatise the cats to eating in the environment.
TRAPPER REPORT
“When I came to trap the female CumbreCat, it all went very quickly. I want to give a Big thanks to my neighbour for her assistance.
The male CumbreCat was obsessed with the female and initially showed no interest in food! But eventually his stomach growled and the smell of tuna was too tempting. The young male approached the cage and quickly went inside.
I took them both to Veronica's, the picked them up again at noon. In the evening, I released them back to their homes.”
On Monday, May 30, 2022, our Kalmias caregiver was happy to see that the CumbreCat she was looking for was right in her own backyard. She was hoping to trap this female and started the process of leaving food inside the trap in order to train the cats to become accustomed to it.
The female did not hesitate and was trapped within a few minutes as she was eating in the trap. The caregiver took her to Veronica, and later picked her up to let her recover in a quiet room. In the evening she was released and was happy to be back in her garden.
RAINBOW REPORTS
OLIVOS ZONE. The CumbreCats caregiver noticed an unknown cat at the feeding place. He seemed active and very hungry. He ate like he was starving. The next day, he showed up again but this time he was just lying on the street. He was whimpering. He needed help.
The caregiver put him in a trap and took him t the vet. He seemed to know that she was going to help him because he entered the trap without a fuss. However, once at the Veronica the vets, it was discovered that the cat's liver was shutting down and there was no cure. He had to be put to sleep to end his suffering.
GIRASOLES ZONE. The CumbreCats caregiver noticed that one of his cats was missing for many days. He knew that the cat must be ill. It finally returned, and the caregiver could pick him up easily and put him in a cage. He called our head trapper to come and take the cat to Veronica the vet. However, the cat was very, very sick and could not be helped, so the vet put him to sleep.
