NOVEMBER 22, 2021 - TRAPPING REPORT
On Monday, November 15, 2021, the husband and wife trapping team of Lirios have become experts.
Following their usual system of withholding food the night before and trapping early in the morning has proven the winning action. The husband and wife team has now become just the husband as he has taken over the whole process. The cats know him, and they trust him, so he is finding that the trapping is easier for him.
On this day, he caught a black male with white paws and took it to our village Vet. Then in the afternoon, he picked up the CumbreCat to recover in his recovery room. Then he returned the cat to its garden home. Then he took the trap over to another trapper. GOOD WORK HUSBAND!!
The resident CumbreCat lover and caregiver over in Magnolias has become a good trapper. On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, she was busy again in her garden with a trap and a male CumbreCat. The trapping was done very quickly and she also did the drop off at the vets and the pickup, then recover, and then the return. ALL SUCCESSFUL!!
On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, a team trapper was over in Magnolias where she caught a male tabby CumbeCat. This trapper knew the routine and the male was neutered and returned with care and in good time. He was released back to his home and sped away before the trapper could take his photo! SPEEDY!!
On Friday, November 19, 2021, again in the Lirious zone, a CumbreCats lover and caretaker called the trapping team to try and capture some cats in this area.
Three of the team trappers set up 3 traps and tried to catch 5 cats. But, their luck was no good as they had a macho escape from a trap and then another go in and out without hitting the trigger. Plus, there were kittens that didn't need to be trapped. Even though the feeder was instructed to withhold food but the cats were not interested in the food anyways. It didn't matter how far away the trappers hid themselves the cats were acting strange and shy.
After 3 hours, the team trappers gave up. They offered the caretaker the use of the trap and suggested feeding a mother cat within the trap as a way to overcome her fear. So, the trap was set up in the garage away from people, a quiet place.
The next day, the female cat ignored the food in the trap. Thankfully, in the evening, she was hungry and went into the trap to feed. The next morning, the mother cat was not shy about the cage and went right in to have her breakfast and stepped on the trigger. She was caught but so was one of her kittens!
The caretaker removed the kitten and took the cat straight to the vet. She also did the pickup at midday. However, due to the cold and rainy weather, the caretaker decided to keep the cat over the night in the recovery box with a litter tray and food. In the morning, the mother cat was returned to her kittens. She disappeared directly but soon came back to feed and see her caretaker.
This is such a great success and a testament to how everyone can learn to be a trapper!
The caretaker was now part of the process and donated 60€ as an added layer of support for the CumbreCats. As a great animal lover, she was very happy to find the CumbreCats
Campaign and to support the trapping group making another devoted member
of this special team.
REMINDER: FUNDRAISER!!
