TRAPPING REPORT & SUMMER SUMMARY - SEPTEMBER 15, 2021
Trapping Fall / Winter 2021 started on Monday, September 13 by Head Team Trapper Tina over at the Girasoles zone near the garbage bins at the horse stables / hipica.
TINA REPORT:
"After the summer break, I started in the early morning to once again start the trapping process. Our area cat feeder was informed not to feed the cats in the evening so that they would be hungry and willing to enter the trap in the morning.
I arrived 15 minutes before feeding time and found 2 hungry machos waited for me. One black cat I noticed was already done. He maybe recognized me because he hide himself at once behind the bushes.
My focus was targeted on a white cat who was surrounding the trap minutes later. After one turn around the trap, he decided to enter because it the food tasted so fine. It was the usual wet food with a piece a fish food. The trigger was covered with newspaper – as always. He ate the first piece and took a few more steps inside. He ate a second piece and took a few more steps inside. Finally he touched the trigger reaching for the big piece. He was trapped in 5 minutes.
I covered the trap immediately, so that he calmed down and put him into the car. A further status check was not necessary because his babymakers said enough!
At 9:30 he was at our vet Veronica who also cleaned his ears. I picked him up about 12:30. In my calm room he relaxed and recovered, then in the early evening I took him to his new home.
A very lovely cat loving couple - Sara and Rob - who are always supporting and helping cats, fell in love with this boy and adopted him. Now this lucky CumbreCat no longer has to worry about where his food will come from or dodging traffic. He can enjoy his best life and be loved.
Thank you so much - you both." - TINA
THE SUMMER SUMMARY
KITTEN CONQUERS HEARTS
A Cumbre neighbour found a little back kitten about 4-5 weeks old with badly inflamed eyes who needed help. CumbreCat trapper Emma was informed and she came and picked up the kitten and took it to Veronica our vet and campaign partner.
Veronica said the kitten was only 300gr and very thin and underfed but apart from that, it seemed to be fine. Emma took over the costs for the treatments and then her family started to foster the kitten. It received a daily eye bath of chamomile tea and eye drops. It ate special kitten food and vitamins, but above all, it was given a ton of love.
Surprise, Surprise - the kitten conquered the hearts of this family members including the other cats and dogs in the household. It was decided that they could not be without their little kitten and named it MOG. It is now one of the happiest creatures in Cumbre del Sol.
