TRAPPING REPORT - SEPTEMBER 25, 2021

UPDATES  IN TRAPPING NEWS

Last Wednesday, September 15, 2021, trapper Florence was out in the Magnolias zone looking for the cats who were still not neutered.

Florence is a big CumbreCat supporter and cares for many of the feral felines and knows many by name. She did not feed the cats the night before so they were hungry in the morning. The first cat to enter the trap was a black and white boy named Felix.

According to Florence, "He has such a handsome face and entered the trap very quickly and was caught at 9:00. However, he cried a lot because he was a little afraid so another cat already done macho named Tinoir went to him and licked his paws and touched him to calm him down – like a caring parent."

A second trap was already prepared with taste pieces of food and it only took another 15 minutes until a beautiful black boy by the name Noiraud, was secure in the trap.

Quickly, Florence drove them down to Veronica the vet. After midday she picked them up and let them sleep in a quiet room until they can be reunited with their friends.

According to Florence,"When I put the sleeping box outside, Tinoir was waiting. He seemed so excited for his best friend Felix and happily they enjoyed their meal."

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, trapper Susana was out again the Magnolias zone.

She was lucky because she was able to grab a macho grey tabby and put him directly into a transport box. She brought him to Veronica and at midday he was done. He later recovered in a calm room at Susana home until she could released him.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM TINA - HEAD TRAPPER

"We want to thank Susana so much because it is a great help when she can take over the the cats to the vet and then home again. If a cat can recover in a room close to the cat feeder's home, this is more relaxing for the cat because it is already in familiar surroundings, voices and smells.

3 of 5 cats in this area are done. The rest we will try to trap next week.

KITTENS - KITTENS - KITTENS

One is already adopted. The others are searching a forever home. At the moment they are only 6 weeks and mummy is milking them. They are not shy – you can already cuddle them. Next week I will publish more photos!! πŸ’˜πŸ’—πŸ’–"

On Monday, September 20, 2021 both trappers Tina and Susana were out in Magnolias again!

TINA REPORT

"The new week brought new tasks my the agenda. A cat lover family, who feeds at least 15 feral cats in their garden, needs urgently help again. 10 cats are already done, but 5 need to be trapped. Also one young female gave birth to 5 kittens. So cute – you could fell in love at once. πŸ’“πŸ’–πŸ’˜

But first, I wanted to focus on a macho and two beautiful young cats.

Susana tried to grab the tame grey macho but his instincts said that he better disappear before his baby makers were in danger! This macho ran into the bushes and hid himself.

I prepared my trap in a little garden and hide myself.  The young cats were watching me very carefully.

Luckily, the smell of a yummy fish treat lured a cat into the trap in 5 minutes and the first hungry cat was trapped. Of course, I covered her up with a blanket right away and then I put the cat into a transport box so that I could use the same trap once more.

With the same food pieces, I lured the next cat. She was more careful and ate each piece slowly while she always was looking around. I dared not breathe or move and finally she was completely inside so that I could trigger the locking mechanism. I calmed her down, moved her over into a carrier box and set up the trap for a third time.

But this time, I had no luck because there were dog walkers talking loud and close to the garden. With all the noise around, all the cats disappeared. I waited half an hour more but then I gave up and brought the 2 beauties to our vet Veronica.

Susana picked them up at midday and let them sleep overnight in a quiet room because it was raining so much. Next morning the young ladies were fully recovered and reunited to their lovely cat family.
