A BIG HUG to all who came out to support the CumbreCats. It was a purrrfect morning with lots of sunshine and smiling faces. We raised 783 euros!!!
Head Team Trapper Tina and her marvelous Mathias were in full action mode with their books, cards and mugs that are all geared toward the CumbreCats as their inspiration.
Everyone fell in love with our beautiful Ariane who was demonstrating how she molds clay into amazing art and she was also taking orders because part of her sales goes towards the CumbreCats. She is on a mission to reach a goal before she donates to us so stay tuned. Good for Her!! Go Ariane!!
Benitachell painter / artist Frances was enjoying her Meet & Greet with other local artists as she worked on a painting to add to her magnificient collection. She donated a very lovely painting of Venice to the Tombola that was proudly won and she was thrilled to contribute to the CumbreCats.
The top Pet Portrait Painter in the region was on hand to showcase his works and Meet & Greet with pet lovers. He too contributed an outstanding painting of a cat to the Tombola that was won with great enthusiasm. Plus, Robert contributed some funds to the CumbreCats from a commission that he got from a pet owner. All Great News!!
The Tombola Gals, Leah & Margaret, were hard at work making sure that guests had a Lucky Dip to win a prize. And What Prizes!! Probably the Best Prizes Ever Seen at a Tombola Anywhere!! There was art and handmade ceramics, original framed photography, prints, art books, booze and so much more!! THANK YOU to Everyone who donated to the Tombola. You made it Very Special.
IN CONCLUSION: We were blessed with a beautiful morning, magnificent and friendly neighbours and cat lovers, genuine humane humans who care! This is the kind of world that I love!! How About YOU?
A Special thank you to Trudi who bought me a coffee. I was holding down the relaxation-in-the-shade table at the back of the garden because I am not retired and was exhausted : ) xx Karla

"Successful Rescue of a Young Kitten in Magnolias Zone" Trapper Report "At the end of September, a couple from the Magnolias zone, who love CumbreCats, asked for help in trapping a young kitten that had recently appeared. Since there were many cats in the area, I used a remote-controlled trap. The couple had not fed the cats the evening before or on the morning of the trapping, so we had a lot of hungry cats around. With the help of the cat feeder, who lured the already-neutered cats to another location with food, the inexperienced young kitten became so captivated by the tasty pieces inside the trap that he entered quickly. I was able to press the CLOSE button on the trap. However, his mother was smarter. From the start, she made a wide circle around the trap and showed no intention of being caught, so she remains on the to-do list. The cat feeders took the kitten to Veronica, the vet, which was a great help as they handled all the driving. They also refused a CumbreCat...
MONTE CALA HAS A NEW FAMILY TRAPPER REPORT One of our part-time cat feeders in Monte Cala was informed by her neighbours about a new mother cat and her kittens. She went out, examined them all, and reported back to me. Together, we quickly devised a trapping plan. First, I focused on a mother cat with a very beautiful kitten that looked like a Siamese. As usual, the mother was black, like so many cats in that area. Since the female cat was used to the feeder, who had fed her very little the evening before, the mother cat was quite hungry the next morning and already waiting when we prepared the trap. We used a remote-controlled trap because a few already neutered cats were hanging around. The feeder lured the others away with food, leaving the mother cat to enter the trap quickly. She was successfully trapped. Since we were already in this area, we decided to continue trapping. We set up both traps, the normal one and the remote-controlled trap, and then the waiting started....
Good morning, everyone. My name is Bear, and I live on Cumbre del Sol, a lovely mountain community in the province of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. My passport says my name is Osito, which I prefer because it sounds more regal, of course. However, Mom insists on calling me Bear or, even worse, Beary-Bear. But she loves me so much that I'm willing to live with the little names she comes up with. Don’t tell her, but I am very fond of her too for a number of reasons. If she knew, I would probably never hear the end of it. My story began about eight years ago, more or less. The vet wasn’t quite sure. I don’t consider myself a real senior, although I am starting to feel the weather changes and the cold winters in Spain in my bones. Now, if you are a house cat, this is less of a problem because you have your heated mansion, your lovely warm basket, or your human’s bed to keep you warm. The best-case scenario, of course, is keeping warm on Mom’s lap for as long as possible. Somehow, thoug...
