TRAPPING REPORT - DECEMBER 5, 2020

The Trapping Week started bright and early on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 7:45. Tina's goal was to setup at the horse stables and finally trap the black male who has fathered many kittens in the area.

Mother and the kittens stayed in bed, but the father was hiding in the bushes. Tina spotted him and quickly prepared her trap with some tasty tuna pieces. She put the trap very close to him and then she hid herself behind the garbage bins.

Suddenly two more machos were strutting around the bated cage but luckily only the intended cat entered the trap and stepped on the trigger. After only 3 minutes, Tina had achieved her goal.

Next, Tina drove over to the Encimas zone. Here the cats watched her very carefully and suspiciously. They would appear for a short look and then disappear.

Finally, overcome with hunger, a very nice black lady appeared, entered the trap and tripped the trigger.

By 21:15, Tina was able to drop both cats off at the vets and pick them up again by 12::30

After a long sleep, she released them at their homes.

On Thursday, December 3, 2020, trapper Saskia was out in the Olivos zone where she spotted a pretty calico female. She managed to trap this one and a very big grey and white macho too.

She noted that was difficult to find the non-neutered cats in this zone as so many of then have been done already. This is a positive point. There are only a few more to get done in this area.

After trapping, Saskia took them to the vet in Benitachell and then picked them up when they were done. She returned the cats to their colony at 19:00.

NOTE: She also wanted to say that a large calico female that was trapped on 20th November and was discovered to be neutered already, probably an abandoned cat not a feral, had its ears tipped and returned to the colony. Since this cat was so domesticated, she has found a home and is living the indoor life. Lucky for her since the cold has arrived.

Again on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 7:45, Tina verntured over the Girsole zone near the horse stables and had a run in with the macho cat she already had trapped a few days before. He was going to eat more of that snacks, this time sardines and of course, the trap shut. Tina was not impressed. She had to get him out and start over.

So, Tina packed up and moved over to the Begonias zone and aimed her sights on a black male. She setup the trap very close to him, but he was sneeky and managed to enjoy the sardines without touching the trigger.

Telling herself to "be patient", she waited around until a pretty young female tabby walked directly into the trap and touched the trigger. Sadly, the construction in this zone makes it difficult to trap effectively.

At 9:30, Tina dropped her to the vet and by 13:00 she was picked up and then released by 17:30, after a good recovering sleep.
