DONATION & FUNDING REPORTS

GIFT FROM A LOCAL BUSINESS
Always great to start a report with an act of goodwill. The Trapping Team had put out a call for Cat Carrier Boxes to be donated for the cause and quickly there came an answer from Mercedes de Federico from Moraira who donated a plastic cat carrier box and a package of absorbent box pads. She told us that her husband Santiago Ibañez Ortiz at MorairaEBikes.com - an electric bike rental agency in Moraira village, would have the box and give it to us.

Tina went down to the business location and did the collection. Great Work!

DONATION DELIVERY

Tina was also on hand to give Veronica the Vet, our partner in this campaign, the funds raised by the Bake Sale Team. It was a good chunk of cash to go towards our ever expanding veterinarian services for this community effort to control the cats on Cumbre del Sol.

Veronica is very grateful for the extra work because her business has been slowed by the disabling efforts of the Corona virus pandemic.

Later in the week, a SURPRISE DONATION came in from local Benitachell resident Pam Small and her FitSteps Ladies "charity pot". According to Pam, "I presented 50€ this morning to Benitachell vet Veronica, to go towards the vet bills for the Cumbre Cats initiative and in particular, the operation expenses for the little kitten born with a major birth defect."

HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!

TRAPPING REPORTS

On Tuesday, July 7, 2020 the Trapping Team of Rebeca, Mia and Evie where in the Monte Cala zone on Calle Zurbaran where they were able to trap a lovely black female cat.

This is their report...

"We left the trap there while the girls went to the pool from 21:45 to 22:30 and when we came back the cat was inside. It was a black female, not breastfeeding and not pregnant. She slept over night in the bathroom at Rebeca's place. Next morning Rebeca brought the cat to the vet. She picked her up fro the vets about 11. The cat recovered in Rebeca's bathroom and the 2 girlies release her late afternoon."

On Friday, August 7, 2020, trapper Jackie Mellis filed this report...

"After much hesitation form the black cat gang, a male was trapped - being unable to resist the tuna . I trapped him in the Monte Cala zone on Murillo street, where I usually feed up 16 cats. He was very feral and went crazy once trapped.

On arrival to Veronica the vet at 10.45 am, I dropped him there and she texted me at 12.45, to say he was ready for collection. When I got there he was still asleep. This was the first time I had picked up a cat who was still asleep. Veronica advised me to keep him until 6pm . He awoke at about 2.15 and when I released him about 6pm, he shot out of the box. Later that evening, he fed with his normal group."

On Wednesday, July 8, 2020 - trapper Tina was in the Monte Cala zone on Calle Colon where he captured a pretty female - white/brown/grey mummy of 3 kittens.

She says that it was the, "Quickest trap ever!"
She explains, "8:30 am I put the trap in the right position in front of a garden-door. I put a little Tuna on a piece of paper. I turned round to the car to close the door and I heard a KLACK - the cat was inside the trap. The whole procedure took about 3 minutes. Ithen brought her at 10:00 to the vet - meanwhile I drove to Moraira to fetch a donation transport cat box from MorairaEbikes and 1,5 hours later I fetched her and took her to my bathroom to recover. At 5pm I released her to her kittens and this was also the quickest release ever!."

FUNDRAISER REPORT

The Fundraiser Team will meet this week and ideas of a COMMUNITY RASTRO are being explored.
The idea being that folks bring a box full of quality unwanted stuff, labelled with their names and items, to our tennis bar... Como en Casa.

We then price and try to sell and all funds utilized towards the campaign.
This is still in the planning stage but your feedback would be appreciated.

LAST WORDS

In these times of uncertainty and chaos, it is fundamentally reassuring to know that we live in such a kind and caring community of people who are conducting humanistic endeavors. Thank you. cccc
