Trapping is Tricky Business in the Lirios Zone

### Trapper Report

"This Monday morning, I set out to trap a mother cat whose kittens are around 10 weeks old. The kind CumbreCats carer was informed not to feed the cats in the morning. While I was preparing my trap, I noticed behind me a beautiful, mostly white cat with half of her face black. I didn't see an ear tag, so I figured she was not yet neutered.

Immediately, I prepared a second automatic trap with fresh fish food and placed it in the garden behind me. However, the white cat disappeared.

Next, I set up the remote-controlled trap with tasty fish food in the carer's garden and gave the kittens some biscuits to lure them away from the trap. The mother cat quickly realized what I was trying to do and hid in the bushes, watching me intently. She didn't come any closer to the trap.

Meanwhile, the white cat returned, ate the trail of snacks leading into the automatic trap, and then disappeared. After I refilled the trap, a black and white cat appeared, ate half the trail, and then disappeared. So, I refilled the trap again.

I looked over at the other trap and saw the same situation: the mother cat in the bushes, watching me.

After an hour, I refilled both traps with tuna. The white cat quickly approached, sniffed around, ate nothing, and disappeared again. The black and white cat ate half the trail and disappeared. The mother cat only sniffed and kept a safe distance from the trap. I decided to give up for the time being and try again later.

For my last attempt with the white cat, I shook a box of delicious dry treats and refilled the trap with them. You won't believe it, but she liked these treats and finally touched the trigger, closing the trap.

At 11 AM, I brought her to Veronica, the village vet. Two hours later, the female cat was sterilized.

I am very happy that this young lady will not become pregnant again."

### Trapper Report

"What luck today! Quite unexpectedly, a young mother cat was trapped. Let me tell you the story. The focus was on this young cat mother who had watched me last week and didn't come close to the trap. Meanwhile, I also wanted to trap another unneutered cat in the opposite garden.

I prepared the normal automatic trap for the opposite garden with tasty wet fish food and a few biscuits, placing it behind the garden wall. Then I set up the remote-controlled cage with the same bait. However, I had to go down to the garage, around the house, and cross the garden where the young cat family was living. Her kittens are around 10 weeks old and have been eating solid food for three weeks. But at that moment, no cat or kitten was around.

Suddenly, I heard a MEOW from the street side. I hurried across the garden, around the house, and down the steps to the trap in the opposite garden. And who was inside? Unbelievably, it was the young mother.

The cat feeder lady and I were so happy because some male cats had already been crying for dates with this female. Now, they have no chance.

At 11 AM, she was operated on, recovered in a quiet room, and was released in the evening. During this time, our lovely cat feeder lady checked several times to ensure the kittens were safe."

SURPRISE 5 MINUTE TRAP

### Trapper Report

"My goal for the day was to trap a black male cat in the Adelfas zone. I arrived and set up the trap, but this macho was neither interested in the food nor the trap. Despite the cat carer not feeding the cats the evening before, the black boy wasn't hungry. He must have another food source. After 1.5 hours, I gave up.

Since the trap was prepared, I decided to head to Pueblo de la Paz, where I knew there were a few unneutered cats. I spotted one under a car and trapped him within 5 minutes.

I took him to the vet, where he was neutered and ear-tipped. He was then returned to roam free once again."

RAINBOW 🌈 REPORT

### Trapper Reports

"A very beautiful female cat appeared to the new residents in the Camelias zone. They noticed that the cat was in need and asking for help. It was heartbreaking to see that both her ears had been eaten away by cancer.

One of our volunteer trappers hurried to assist. The new resident was asked not to feed the cat the evening before the trapping date. The next day, the poor cat walked right into the trap. Veronica, our vet, determined that the cancer was too far gone and had to put the cat to sleep. Rest in peace."

"A resident from Lirios asked for help after finding a dead cat in his garden. A trapper brought the cat to Veronica. He was an unneutered male, and it was concluded that he had been the victim of a careless driver. Rest in peace."
