JUNE 11 2024 🐾 TRAPPING REPORT 🐾

BACK TO BEGONIAS

Our Head Trapper was back to the Begonia zone to complete a family mission.

TRAPPER REPORT

I was trapping again in Begonias. I had already trapped two female cats and one male from this family. Today, I aimed to trap the rest. Unfortunately, two mother cats lost their kittens; a fox killed them. On the first day, the cat carers managed to save the kittens by chasing the fox away, but the fox did not give up and eventually caught them.

Before I started trapping, the cat carer was informed not to feed the cats, so they were hungry when I arrived. All the cats there were black. The carer fed one cat while I set up the trap with tasty fish food. It took only 10 minutes for the first hungry cat to enter the trap, and I could press CLOSE. We transferred the cat to the transport box, and I prepared the trap again.

Another cat was already close to the trap, so I only needed to hide until she approached. Carefully, she sniffed around but eventually, her hunger won, and she entered the trap. I pressed CLOSE once more. We were happy. We initially thought the second cat was a male because she was big, heavy, and had a face similar to a macho. However, it turned out she was a female, not pregnant, just a strong lady.

I brought the cat to Veronica our vet. By around 1 pm, they were done. They recovered in the carers' house and were released to their cat family late in the evening.

THE STORY CONTINUES

At 9:30 the following week, I had my next trapping appointment. I needed to trap a young black female, the only unneutered cat in this black cat family of six. I prepared the remote-controlled trap. The cat feeder fed three neutered cats while one neutered cat hung around with the one I wanted to trap. Of course, this neutered cat entered the trap, and the cat carer had to lure her away with a bowl of food.

The cat I wanted to trap was very hungry and couldn't resist the tasty fish and shrimp cat food. She ate with relish, chewing every piece about 20 times, very slowly. It took a long time for her to be completely in the trap, but eventually, I could press CLOSE.

I'M HAPPY TO SAY that finally, the whole little colony of six black cats are all sterilized: five females and one male. Phew!
