To our dear neighbours in Cumbre del Sol, we wish you joyful moments with family and friends this festive season, and may your homes be filled with the spirit of love and light. Your continued support has a significant impact on the lives of the furry companions we hold so dear.
In this season of giving, let us reflect on the importance of caring for all living creatures on this planet. The bond we share with our feline companions reminds us of the interconnectedness of life. As we celebrate the joy of Christmas, we should also take responsibility to extend our caring beyond our homes into the world and foster a sense of compassion for every living thing.
Our dedicated team comprising trappers, feeders, carers, partners and promoters, joins together in sending warm wishes to you all. Your collective efforts have helped to create a safer and happier environment for the cats of Cumbre del Sol. Thank you to your kindness and generosity, we can continue our mission to make a positive impact on the lives of these wonderful creatures.
We are deeply grateful to you and look forward to a new year filled with hope and opportunity. Together, let us continue to make a difference and create a community where every creature, big and small, is valued and cared for.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!

SUCCESS STORY FROM PUEBLO LA LUZ

Trapper Report
Pueblo La Luz
"At the beginning of this summer, a feral mother cat made her presence known at the colony and brought two kittens, which thrived quickly thanks to constant access to food, water and shelter. Realising that the population needed to be controlled, I set out to trap and sterilise the mother, which I managed to do.
After a day at the vets and back again, she was happily reunited with her two kittens. She continued to socialise in our garden and on the street and became an integral part of the Pueblo de la Luz cat colony.
About a month ago, two new male faces appeared — strong and robust— - and showed a keen interest in the now adult kittens. Although I was unable to catch the two males, I decided to trap the kittens to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
On one particular day, I successfully took them to Veronica's to have the necessary procedures done and later picked them up again. However, my knowledge of cats was put to the test, as it turned out that one of them was not a she, but a he.
My commitment to the welfare of the cat colony remains steadfast and we are grateful for the continued support of the community."
The return to our garden was quite dramatic. The boy howled and cried, prompting me to let him out much earlier than recommended. The girl was equally eager to resume her life in the wild. I was pleasantly surprised to observe that unlike all the other feral cats, they did not immediately run away from me. Instead, they lingered in the garden and no longer seemed agitated. No crying, no howling — what a relief.
In the photo you can see the black (young) cat eating and his sister on the day of her operation. Both are doing well. Sometimes they disappear for a day or two, but they always come back to eat, drink and seek shelter. Their presence brings joy, because we know that they have found a safe and comforting place in our care.

ENTIRE FAMILY TRAPPED IN CAMELIAS
Trapper Report
Camilias Zone
"After cat-loving residents informed me about a cat family with two kittens that had turned up in their garden, these four cats were added to my list. Eventually the kittens reached an age at which they could be neutered.
They were only given a small amount of food the night before so that they wouldn't be hungry on Monday morning. I first set the remote-controlled trap with delicious fresh fish cat food. It only took 10 minutes for the first cat to come in for breakfast and I was able to press CLOSE. But as so often happens, when the other cats hear the door closing, they scatter and sometimes take 1 or 2 hours to trust the trap again.
The same scenario happened this morning. The regular trap was set with different food, but no cat appeared. Another cat lover offered to help by guarding the trap and covering it when he heard the CLACK.
Two hours later, luck was on his side when he successfully caught the black female kitten.
I took her to Veronica and picked her up around 2pm. Both girls recovered in a warm room. Due to the night-time temperatures, they had to spend the night with me. The next morning I released them in their home.
On the same day, the resident refrained from feeding mum and dad. We sincerely hoped that their hunger would make them enter the traps and trigger the locking mechanism. Two regular traps were set with tasty food and strategically placed in different areas of his garden.
Luck was with us as both cats entered and were successfully caught. The father, a large black and white male cat, had a cut on his nose, which Veronica fixed p before neutering him earlier that morning. He was released in the evening. Mum had to spend the night in a warm room in my house. The next morning I released her back to her family.
YEPP! The whole family was successfully taken care of! A big thank you to the cat-loving family for their excellent co-operation. Your support has helped us a lot and we really appreciate it."
