LOVE BECOMES A MISSION OF DOMESTICATION

Ah, love, the magical power that can transform even the wildest tails into heart-warming stories! In the enchanting realm of Dalias of Cumbre del Sol, lives a kind-hearted neighbour whose love of nature knows no bounds. When a pregnant CumbreCat mother was in need, this neighbour reached out to her with a hand of compassion and care.

In the days of her pregnancy, the CumbreCat mother felt the warmth of his kindness, and when her three precious kittens saw the light of day, she couldn't wait to share her joy with her newfound friend. She paraded her adorable bundles of fur on his doorstep as if to say, "Look what we've created together!"

But as so often happens, life also brought with it a touch of sadness. Two of the kittens mysteriously disappeared, leaving a void in the hearts of those who had cared for them. But amidst the uncertainty, a glimmer of hope emerged.

This unspoken bond between the CumbreCat family and their guardian angel made what followed seem like fate. With trust as a guiding star, a simple trapping operation became a labour of love. The mother and her kittens, once old enough, were gently captured, cared for, neutered and then released back into the wild, their wild spirit tamed by the love they had experienced.

TRAPPER REPORT

One day, a request reached me from this compassionate neighbour who was deeply impressed by the love he had found in the eyes of this tiny CumbreCat family. He wanted to do more than just be a carer; he wanted to bring them into his home and shower them with love and compassion day and night.

With trap in hand and love in his heart, he set out on a mission of domestication. Food became bait, patience his closest ally. Days turned into brief moments, and soon the mother and her kitten found themselves in the gentle embrace of the trap.

And so a new chapter begins. The once wild family now has a chance to thrive in the security of a loving home, surrounded by the constant affection of their faithful human. It is a story about love that turned misfortune into a happy ending for all involved, a reminder that love can conquer even the wildest hearts.

THE DANDY OF DALIAS IS NO LONGER A BABY-DADDY

In the Dalias zone of Cumbre del Sol lives a dashing, extraordinary baby daddy with eyes as blue as the Caribbean Sea. He is the Casanova of the CumbreCats world having sired so many offspring that trappers took notice. Yes, he's practically the George Clooney of Cat City!

About a year ago, our feline heartbreaker got into a jam when our clever trappers tried to catch him. But he's not stupid! He dodged the traps like a seasoned action hero in an action film, and the trappers could only scratch their heads, or should I say stroke their chins?

TRAPPERS REPORT

A well-meaning neighbour decided to try the old trick of "let them eat first and then trap them" with a mother cat and her kittens. Guess who wanted to join the dinner party? Our blue-eyed Don Juan! Apparently he thought it was an exclusive cat soirée. So our intrepid neighbour set up an ingenious trap, lured him in with some delicious treats and voilà, after 15 minutes the cat walked right into captivity!

Naturally, I was called in to sort out this hairy situation. I played the hero and took our blue-eyed Romeo to Veronica, the vet. After a suspenseful half-hour surgery (castration to be precise), he convalesced in my humble abode. This adventurous CumbreCat was freshly neutered and sleeping off his sedative in a cosy spot in my house. As evening fell, our now responsible feline dad was released back into the wild.

But alas, the story didn't end there. I discovered that he had already enjoyed himself in the spring and, what a surprise, our hero could not resist the call of romance. He fathered a pair or three of blue-eyed kittens. Don't worry, I have a to-do list and these kittens are at the top of it!

REMAIN CALM WHILE TRAPPING IN CAMELIAS

TRAPPER REPORT

One morning I found myself in the serene Camelias zone, embarking on a mission of mercy. My destination? A private garden where CumbreCats had sought refuge, their fate uncertain. The first rays of dawn witnessed the unfolding of a story full of confusion!.

As I set my traps, a strange revelation came to light. The cats that wandered into the traps were not the wild, untamed souls I had expected. No, they bore the marks of a previous encounter - they had already been snipped and clipped, their fate forever changed.

In the midst of this quiet reflection, people arrived, chatting and telling stories. Time flowed like a river, three hours flew by. But finally the universe revealed its plan. A lone female, perhaps the most vulnerable among them, ventured into the trap and found herself gently ensnared.

With a heart full of empathy, I brought her to Veronica, the guardian vet of these fragile lives. She went through the procedure with grace and I took her to my home while she recovered in a quiet room, a brief respite from the trials of the world.

When evening came, I carried her back to her territory, her sanctuary among Camelias. In the grand scheme of things, it was a small gesture, but one full of compassion and hope, a testament to the enduring human spirit that seeks to lighten the burden of our fellow creatures. VIVA CumbreCats!

SURPRISES COME WITH SURPRISES

TRAPPER REPORT

My morning mission was to capture a female cat in the charming area of Pueblo de la Paz. But it seems my well-intentioned endeavour took an unexpected turn. A young CumbreCat lady cautiously circled the trap, her hesitation evident. Meanwhile, her neutered male partner, who had obviously experienced quite a bit, walked into the trap completely unconcerned. So of course I immediately freed him from his temporary captivity.

My cat watched the action from a distance, and no matter how hard I tried, I could not lure her back into the trap with tempting offers of food. After a good hour and a half of hopeful waiting, I had to admit defeat. Dejected, I made my way back home.

But life, with its delightful twists and turns, still had a surprise in store for me. As I passed the bins, I spotted a rather nonchalant CumbreCat — let's call him a "tomcat extraordinaire." While I was hurrying to set my trap, this fearless feline was already making his way towards me. With bated breath, I set about getting everything ready, and before I knew it, he was strolling in without a hint of fear. What a random stroke of luck!

But what happened next was nothing less than a comedy of errors. Moments later, just 50 metres away, I came across the familiar face of a poor, parasite-infested cat that we had been trying to capture for 1.5 years. What timing! I had to transfer our freshly caught feline friend into a transport box to release the trap. Then, with a sense of déjà vu, I set the trap again.

There he was, our long-lost feline acquaintance, sitting in the middle of the road, casually taking a bath. It was a bizarre sight. So I quickly stocked the trap with the most irresistible morsels from my arsenal— - delicious mackerel and tuna morsels. But this experienced cat had his suspicions. He grabbed a piece from the entrance and dashed back out to munch contentedly.

He stretched his body to the limit, half in and half out of the trap, as if playing a game of tug-of-war. I confess that I was so nervously involved in the situation that I couldn't bring myself to take a photo. Instead, I found myself praying fervently, "Please, oh please, venture all the way in."

And lo and behold, on the fifth try, he finally ventured in all the way to his tail and began to dine in style. I seized the moment and pressed the "CLOSE" button. You can't imagine how happy I was at that moment. It was a real stroke of luck!

Without wasting a second, I placed the two captured CumbreCats in Veronica's care. Both underwent the important castration. The sick male cat received a 13-week treatment to defeat his parasites.

After their surgeries and a bit of recuperation in the serene confines of a quiet room, it was finally time to set them free. Late in the afternoon, I released both of them into the world once more. Our familiar feline friend, the one who had witnessed the comical antics of the day, bounded out of the transport box with a newfound lightness in his step. But then, something truly heart-warming happened.

As he took those first few steps of freedom, he halted and turned those inquisitive eyes toward me. It was a gaze filled with an unspoken gratitude, as if he wanted to say, "Thank you for that spot of kindness, my dear human friend." His pause was a moment of genuine connection, a silent understanding between two souls, one human and one feline, who had shared an eventful day filled with laughter, prayers, and ultimately, compassion.

With a smile on my face and warmth in my heart, I watched him continue on his way, a little piece of my heart going with him. It was a reminder that in our efforts to help these remarkable creatures, we not only change their lives but also, in some small way, they change ours. For in the world of feline rescue, it's not just about the traps and the treatments; it's about the unspoken moments, the bonds forged, and the tiny acts of kindness that make it all worthwhile.

RAINBOW REPORT

In loving memory of a CumbreCat I found one fateful day near the roundabout at Encimas 3, I wish to pay my last respects.

This CumbreCat with its distinctive ear tip had a story that we may never fully know, but we do know one thing: it left an indelible impression on our hearts. As I was on my way to help another feline friend, fate intervened and revealed the lifeless form of this beloved cat, who had fallen victim to a tragic accident on the road.

In that moment of grief, I turned to Arturo from Townhall. With unwavering compassion, he came immediately to pick up this dear soul providing dignity in a moment of vulnerability.

Even though I did not know this CumbreCat personally, I honor its presence in our lives and the reminder —that every living creature, no matter how small, leaves an impression on this world. In its passing, let us remember the fleeting moments of joy, the bond we share with our furry friends, and the importance of lending a helping hand to those in need.

Rest in peace, dear CumbreCat. The memory of you will forever remain in our hearts, a symbol of the beauty and fragility of life, and a reminder to cherish every precious moment we have with our beloved animal companions.
