MARCH 5, 2023 - TRAPPING REPORT

Over the past week, the cold has kept the CumbreCats hidden except to come out to feed, hence this has been the best time to trap.

ONE CAT, THEN TWO

Trapper Report - Feb.27.2023

"These 2 cats had been on my catch list since last November because they changed their feeding place and only appeared sometimes. But gradually they started coming regularly to another resident's garden to feed, and the owner informed me about her new guests.

She started feeding them regularly in the morning and evening. The trapping date was on Monday morning, but because of the strong cold wind, only one already trapped cat appeared at feeding time and rushed through the garden.

I decided to try again in the evening when the caretaker informed me that the A black and white cat was waiting for food in her garden. I prepared the trap with a small plate of dry and wet food, and it was not long before she went in and I could press CLOSE.

As always, I covered the trap very quickly and moved him to another carrier. Unfortunately the other cat, a black beauty, was not to be seen in the garden. So I drove back home.

Only half an hour later, the caretaker called me again and told me that the black cat was in the garden waiting for someone to fill the food bowls. I immediately rushed to her garden and set the prepared remote-controlled trap.

Two already trapped cats watched me from a distance. They knew me, but the young black cat was hungry and immediately ate the first small pieces at the entrance and went back. She walked around the trap, crawled under the table and sniffed.

Once, a second time, then she watched me, turned around again, watched me and so on. Then I put a trail of a small piece at the end of the trap, but the cat was only interested in the nearest pieces.

O.K. I rushed to my car to get some tuna and was opening the can on the way back when I saw her in the trap. I stopped moving and hid behind the bush, and finally she was at the end of the trap and I could press CLOSE. YES!!! I had her.

I covered the trap and took it to my house to spend the night.

The next morning at 9am I took her to Veronica's. Around 2:30pm I was able to pick her up and let her recover in a quiet room. The boy was fully awake by late evening and I released him in her home area.

The young girl had to stay in the night cage in my house for another night because of the night temperatures. The next morning, when the sun was already shining, I released her to her family.

Finally, the whole family is done. Mother, 2 males and 1 female. Thank you for the perfect cooperation with our caretakers."

AT LAST, IT IS THE LAST!

Trapper Report - Feb.28.2023

"I had my eye on the remaining sister of a litter of 3 kittens born at the end of the summer in Camelias. Her sisters had been trapped together in early February, and now I was lucky enough to have the remaining sister.

She was dropped off at the vet at 9am ready to be picked up in the early afternoon to recover after her sterilisation. In the evening she was returned to Camelias and immediately joined her sisters for dinner.

No chance of those 3 girls getting pregnant this spring!"
