FEBRUARY 25, 2023- TRAPPING & RAINBOW REPORTS

TWO IN A MORNING

February 22, 2023 - The TNR season is in full swing in Pueblo de la Luz thanks to our lovely CumbreCat attendant. She was able to set up a trap at her regular feeding site. She wanted to catch a young CumbreCat. Surprisingly, a white and ginger male gladly walked straight into the trap without much trouble, pressed the trigger and snapped - done.

Trapper Report

"I took this young male out of the trap and put him in a transport box. I took him to Veronica, the vet in our village of Benitachell. While I was doing this work, a friend of mine stayed behind to guard the trap, which was prepared. Again, a young grey tabby male went into the trap without much trouble and was caught.

My friend covered the trap with a blanket until I returned from town. I was thrilled when I saw how lucky I had been. I immediately took him to Veronica.

The first male had already been neutered and was sleeping in his box. I took him home to a quiet room where he could rest.

Around noon, the second CumbreCat was ready to be picked up. I also took this cat home so that he could recover.

Later in the afternoon I brought both cats back to their home."

RAINBOW REPORT

R I P - HANDSOME

TOO FAR GONE

February, 21, 2023 - The caretaker from the Olivos zone noticed that one of her CumbreCats, a black and white male was losing weight and had problems eating and cleaning his paws. She set up a trap and luckily the sick cat went in without trouble.

The cat was taken to our vet who checked him out and concluded that he was too far gone and was suffering from his illness. She said that unfortunately a treatment would not be possible. Veronica had to put the care of his misery.

NO CURE FOR CANCER

R I P - PRETTY BOY

February 22, 2023 - The caretaker in the Begonias zone had a sick CumbreCat, and she sent our head trapper some photos.

Trapper Report

"I was out early in the morning and discovered the sick CumbreCat. He was waiting for me and meowing loudly. The caretaker of Begonias said that this cat was always hungry but was very emaciated. He also had very inflamed eyes. I set the trap and laid a food trail, which he followed very quickly to a small tray of food in the trap. Once he was inside, I closed the trap door. I took him to Veronica who examined him. She concluded that the poor boy had leukaemia and was suffering. He had to go over the Rainbow Bridge."
