OCTOBER 25, 2022 - TRAPPING & FUNDING REPORT

WELCOME, It is so heart-warming to witness the community making an effort to learn about catching and transporting CumbreCats to the village vet. It's great that people want to help with our campaign by learning how to take the important steps.

KALMIAS KITTENS NOW NEUTERED

The neighbours from the Kalmias zone have become an effective team. In just a few weeks, they manage to neuter an entire family of six.

These friendly people had fed the family in their garden. The kittens had become very tame and trusting of their keepers. It was easy for the fosters to pick up the kittens, who are now young adults, and put them in transport boxes.

They managed to get four of the CumbreCats to the village vet in this friendly way, but the fifth kitten escaped.

It took another day to catch this last family member. The keepers also managed to catch the mother of the family and that was that!

An amazing feat, accomplished with care and kindness, and independent of the already busy capture team.

We love people like this and are very grateful for their efforts.

These people from the community are also members of AVIB who have been very supportive of the CumbreCats campaign.

BIG BEAUTIFUL BOY IS A CLEVER CAT

A CumbreCat lover from the Encinas zone, a supporter from day one of our campaign, asked our chief trapper for help in catching a big, intelligent bad boy.

He had been having regular breakfasts in the resident cat lover's garage, so this was the perfect place to set up a trap.

Trapper Report:

"I took the trap to the cat lover and prepared it with newspaper to cover the trigger. I explained to her how to activate the trap

The next morning, the cat lover set the trap with food that the big cat loved. She arrived at just the right time. The cat was hungry and went straight into the cage. He touched the trigger and was trapped.

I took him to Veronica, the vet, and picked him up at 1:30pm. He slept off his sedation at the cat lover's. She then released him back into his territory around 5pm.

So that's one less macho CumbreCat roaming around the neighbourhood making babies."

And this wonderful lady donated €50 towards his operation too!!"

FUNDING REPORT

Thanks to our Fabulous CumbreCats Campaign supporters, and everyone who came out to our fundraiser in October 2022, we were able to top up our neutering and care account with Veronica the village vet.
