MARCH 11, 2022 - TRAPPING REPORT & DONATIONS
THE RAIN IN SPAIN HAS FINALLY STOPPED!!
Trapping went on hold during all the historic rain. CumbreCats did not hang about in their usual zones. However, on Thursday, March 17, 2022, with a break in the rain, two of our regular caregivers were able to trap in their neighbour colonies.
When the weather put on a sunny face, the CumbreCats were out and on April 7, 2022, our head trapper was able to work with some residents of Monte Cala.
Over in the Camelias zone, on this same day, our head trapper was meeting the area caretaker. They knew that there was a female that needed to be neutered.
From the Magnolias zone, the local caregiver trapped a handsome grey male. This fluffy boy was the last of her garden family to be neutered.
And at the other end of the urbanisation, another longtime caregiver was able to coax a tomboy, white and ginger CumbreCat with some yummy snacks into a cage.

Trapper Report:
"The weather finally changed and I started with 2 new trappers in Monte Cala. At first, a little instruction was necessary and afterwards, we wanted to start. But unfortunately, many neighbours appeared and wanted to help lure the CumbreCats and this caused too much trouble and we were not lucky. After calmness was restored, one resident was waiting with one trap and another resident and I decided to trap two streets down, where we discovered 2 CumbreCats that were not neutered yet. Very helpful young kiddies fed the already neutered cats. They were very quiet so that we could concentrate on the focus CumbreCat. But this young cat was too carefully. So, instead of her, a huge, very handsome tabby boy entered the trap, touched the trigger and was trapped. We were very happy and we finished with this place!"

Trapper Report:
"I quickly set up the trap while the other CumbreCats, all neutered, were eating. My targetted cat was a black and white female. A very, very shy girl who was always the last to eat from the bowls. The caregiver and I have tried at least 5 times to trap her. Often she entered the trap a few steps for the food pieces but then turned around and left. This time maybe she had more confidence to eat the food in the trap. We watched like 3 times as she went into the trap, turned around and went out again. The other CumbreCats did not offer her a chance to eat from their bowls, so she finally came back into the trap. When she was completely inside, I could press the "close" button on the automatic cage.
That morning, Veronica our village vet and campaign partner was ill in bed, so I called the vet clinic ALIAGA. What luck because they helped us out in these urgent cases. At 2:30 pm the operations were finished. The boy relaxed in the transport box until 6pm and was released to his home area. The young girl needed to stay overnight in a comfortable cage. The next morning when I got closer to her home area she started to shout and meow very loudly and flew in freedom after I opened the door."
