JANUARY 22, 2022 - TRAPPING REPORT

 CUMBRECAT TRAP TO THE RESCUE

On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, our head trapper was called over to the zone of MonteCala by a concerned neighbour.

In this zone is a very kind CumbreCat caretaker and she was concerned about a young black and white female named Patch who was exceptionally pretty and was being courted by a couple of macho males, or she thought.

The head trapper reports:

"At once, I spotted the huge macho CumbreCat that we named BRUISER was hanging around the young pretty gal with his big babymakers dancing around. Then another black macho appeared and seemed to be wanting to court her as well.

I realized that there was no time to waste and that I really had to hurry up.

I messaged the caretaker to please not feed the cats for one evening and that I would come the next day to try and trap both the female and the macho men.

I came the next mornig with my traps and a kitten who was already neutered started to hang around, so I had to lure it away with some dry food. Then the lovely lady came around and I coaxed her toward my trap with some tasty fish wet food.  It wasn´t very long until she entered the trap, because she was very hungry. I transfered her over the carrier box and covered her up so she would stay calm.

Then, I was going to try and trap Bruiser. He was on the scent of the female Patch and hence he came sniffing around at my car several times. Sadly, it was only sex on his mind and not food and after 30 minutes of seaching for her, he disappeared.

It was then that a black male came around the trap and went inside. I was so happy to get at least one Macho male, or not! My luck, this big black boy had already been snipped so I had to release him.

I took the pretty kitty Patch down to Veroncia and she confirmed that the high mating season had already started.

After her operation, I took Patch home to recover in the house of her caretaker until it was time for her release.

The caretaker couple would have liked to adopt her, but it was obvious that Patch the CumbreCat was a nature loving gal and preferred to be living in the wild.

They were sad to let her go but happy again to see her reappear the next day for her breakfast."

COMMUNITY CARTAKER GIVES AID TO WOUNDED CUMBRECAT

THIS MONTH, our head trapper got a call for help from one of the CumbreCat Caretakers in the Olivos zone. There was a very beautiful longhaired cat needing help. This cat had been abandoned by her owner and was a domestic. She had a very bad wound.

Head trapper report:

" I ask for some photos and forwarded them to our partner Veronica, the local vet. She confirmed that the cat needed antibiotics. The caretaker went down to the village and picked up the prescription. Then she went to the pharmacy and paid for the pills. She gave the cat a pill every morning with her food and in a week, the cat was doing very well."

ONCE AGAIN!! Kindness Counts!!
