DECEMBER 6, 2021 - TRAPPING REPORT

ANOTHER PRODUCTIVE WEEK OF TRAPPING ON THE CUMBRE

Trapping efforts started on Monday, November 29, 2021 with a local resident from Encimas coming to the rescue.

This resident has been taking good care of the CumbreCats in his neighbourhood and has been also trapping them. On this day, he managed to capture the last kitten in a family group. He has now controlled the entire neighourhood.

He reports, "After trapping the last female kitten, I dropped her off to Veronica the vet and then picked her up again at 14:30. She slept until 17:00 and then I took her over to my other neighbour to spend the night in a nice warm and quiet room. The next morning a happy cat was released."

This is such great news! I wish all of Cumbre's residents were as kind and caring as this one :)

Also on Monday, November 29, 2021, our head trapper was out in Encimas zone at 9:30 with her trapping cage.

She had asked the feeder to not give out any food on Sunday evening so the cats would be hungry and easier to trap. And sure enough, it works.

The head trapper reports, "A very hungry CumbreCat called Smudge, because she has a smudge on her nose, was waiting for me. I only had time to set up the trap with 3 pieces of food and 2 seconds later the cat was in. I pressed CLOSE and the automated door came down. Less than 1 minute. This luck we could need every time. Please :-)))))"

She continues, "I brought Smudge to Veronica the vet. Theis CumbreCats was done at 14:30 and I let her sleep in a quiet room. My neighbour returned the big cage and I put the cat into this one. This young lady recovered in a warm room and was released the next morning into her home area. The CumbreCat feeder was already waiting. A few hours later, I got the feedback that Smudge was very fine and eating a lot, had no problems, and running and jumping as normal. "

On Tuesday, November 30, 2021, a new trapper was busy in the Lirios zone. She had her trap out by 8:00 and she knew the CumbreCats by named Zipi, and Zapi.

She reports, "I had the trap set up to catch two white and ginger male brothers. They are very trusting and they were very hungry too, so they entered the trap quickly and they were caught."

She continues, 'I took them to Veronica by 10:30 and they were back home by noon for a rest. I released them about 16:00 before it was getting dark. They quickly began to go about their normal lives, as if nothing had happened. They were released at 4 pm before it started to get dark. They quickly began to go about their normal lives. Their first destination after release was to visit the feeding place - they were hungry!"

On Friday, December 3, 2021, the newest trapper was set up and ready in the Lirios zone Her goal was to trap a tabby female kitten, the last in a family to be neutered. She had already confirmed with Veronica the vet that these kittens were the correct age to be neutered.

She reports, "I was encouraged to capture the smaller sister in this family called Beyoncé. It was necessary to use the trap from a distance because she is very suspicious. As she was hungry, it didn't take long for her to come into the trap. I took her down to Veronica at opening time. By11:00 the kitten was picked up and was placed in a bigger cage to be warm and comfortable until her release. The next morning, she was released and greeted by her siblings and mother. Altogether they had a good and well-deserved breakfast. The cat family is all together again and all are neutered. Everything went great!"
