NOVEMBER 29, 2021 - TRAPPING REPORT
MORE RESIDENTS GET INVOLVED HELPING TRAPPERS
Trapping started last week on Monday, November 22, 2021 with one of the resident trappers who is in the Magnolias zone. She was able to trap a black and white male for whom she named Vaca. Because she knows this cat, he was eager for food and entered the trap quickly. The trapper took him down to Veronica our local vet and business partner and he was neutered. He was later picked up and returned to a cozy home to relax. He was released back to his home around 14:30. It is so wonderful to have residents of Cumbre del Sol so involved with keeping the CumbreCat campaign active. Bravo !!
Over in the Lirios zone Monday, November 22, 2021, another neighbour was once again taking control of his CumbreCats and doing his own trapping. He was able to do the entire process, from trapping to vets to recovery to returning the cat. He was like a professional. This is the 6th CumbreCat that he has trapped from his area where there is a little colony. He is confident that he will continue to trap all the cats from this zone.
Trapping is not always about neutering as the resident cat lover of Magnolias found out on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
This Cumbre resident is always taking good care of all CumbreCats in her neighbourhood, so when she saw that one cat called Tisquat was injured on his pawn, she immediately knew she had to trap him for a trip the vet. Tisquat is already neutered so he knew about the trap and proved not willing to enter it. It took several days and many attempted to finally get him into the trap. He was taken to the vet and she had to treat him for a bad bite from another cat. The injury was inflamed and needed medication. The cat-loving resident did not hesitate to pay for the treatment herself so that this CumbreCat could heal.
It is people like this who know the value of caring for all life. There kindness is shown by their benevolent treatment and assistance to animals and it is the kind of treatment that all animals deserve!
The husband and wife nieghbours of Lirios managed to trap a beautiful female CumbreCat on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. This lovely grey and white young lady was taken to the vets and picked up again but she was then taken over to recover overnight at the Magnolias trappers home in a big cage, in a comfortable warm room. It was too cold to release her in the dead of night. The next morning she was returned to her Lirios location.
Once again the sympathetic lady of Magnolias was trapping on Thursday, November 25, 2021. This time she knew her target, a macho named Cendrillon. She knew that he was a nightingale and only appeared in the evening for his food. The trap was prepared and set out in a hurry and it did not take long for the big CumbreCat to be coaxed into the trap and caught.
However, he had to stay the night in the cage with lots of snacks and a litter box. He was nervous at first but eventually snuggled in for the night. He was released at 18:00 back home.
One of our local Spanish residents who loves the CumbreCats and cares for them was busy on Friday, November 26, 2021 in the Enchimas zone.
He had made contact with the head trapper to say that a CumbreCat mother with 3 kittens had moved into his garden. The mother had already been neutered but he wanted to try and trap the kittens who were of age to be neutered.
He got lucky and was able to trap 2 black females. He passed them over to the trapper in Magnolias to be delivered to the vet. He also donated 50€ for CumbreCats. What great co operation between neighbours!!
After a good night in a warm home, the following morning, the two ladies were released back to their home area in Encimas.
All in all, a good week for the CumbreCats campaign thanks to the good-hearted people of Cumbre del Sol.
We also had a lady walk into Veronica the village vet's office and purchase a voucher for a CumbreCat to be neutered. Anyone can do this!!
If you are feeling the need to help a CumbreCat then this is a way that you can take DIRECT ACTION!
