TRAPPING REPORT - NOVEMBER 14, 2020
GIRASOLES ENCOUNTERS
This week started on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. Tina decided to venture over to the colony of cats living behind the supermarket, at 8:00. No Luck! The cats were not interested in her tasty tuna treats in her traps.
So, she decided to head over to the garbage bins near the horse stables, where she knew that there was a very busy boy macho with pretty hairy ears, that looked like brushes. Tina understood how the female cats would take to this handsome tomcat with his sexy ears.
This macho was a proud, brave boy and seemed content to just lie down near one of the traps that Tina had prepared. However, the smell of tuna was too overwhelming for his nose and he could not hold back any longer and walked right into the trap for a taste. Snap. the door was down and Tina quickly covered him with a blanket.
Tine drove to the next place in the Girasoles zone and set up another trap. In no time, a black macho was eyeballing the trap but was also very suspicious of it. He was going to be a challenge for Tina the Trapper.
She added all the cat food and some biscuits, a bit of tuna and some wet food. He still was not having any of it.
The macho got aggressive with the trap and turned it around tried to pull the food from the outside. Smart boy! Tina was forced to resort to her ultimate weapon... a SARDINA. She laid it into the trap.
The challenge escalated with an already eartipped neutered black cat came on the scene. Tina had to now lure that cat away from the trap!
Finally at 10:20, the Girasoles boy was trapped.
Both machos were dropped to Veronica the village vet.
At 1:15 they were ready for pick up and recovered in Tina's guestroom until 6pm when Tina returned them to their zone.
MARVELOUS MAGNOLIAS
On Thursday, November 12, 2020 in the Magnolias zone, Cat Lover Lady Florence managed to trap and beautiful Bengal cat. Because Florence feeds about 10 feral cats, she has a relationship with them and trapping is a bit easier.
Florence took the cat to our village vet for neutering but the vet found ear mites and so the vet treated that problem as well with special drops.
Florence picked up the cat around 13:00 and let her recover until 18:00 and released her. She was happy to see her friends again.
OLIVOS LOVERS
Saskia headed over to the colony of cats in the Olivos zone. The cats in this zone recognized her the sound of her car and associating it with food came running over hope for a nice breakfast.
He loaded up the trap with some goodies and spotted a large calico cat, a pretty female. This gal is also a smartie and kept outsmarting Saskia by removing the food from the trap without setting it off.
Saskia had a tranquilizer pill that would sedate her so she could be trapped without problems however while she was getting that sorted, another cat entered the trap and set it off. Quickly that cat was covered up and when she did that, she put the pill down with the food and a large tiger male ate it.
In the end, with the help of Jacqueline who managed to trap another cat with a third cage, 3 cats were off to the vets.
They arrived at the vet shortly after 9:00. Cats were spayed and collected before 14:00 and slept off their anesthetics at Saskia´s place till 19:00. They were released back to join their family and friends, with dinner being served. Next time, Saskia will focus will her attention 100% on Ms Calico, and hopefully outsmart her for once!
