TRAPPING REPORT - OCTOBER 23, 2020
The week began on Monday, October 19, 2020 as Tina and Jo decided to set up their traps in the Pueblo de a Paz zone only to find that most of the cats had eartips meaning that they had already been neutered. So, off they went over to the Monte Cala zone of Cumbre del Sol, where they had success before.
Tina was eager to trap a cat that she had seen there before. This cat was always very suspicious and tiptoed around the cage. But, Tina was determined and placed all of her focus on this cat.
The trap was filled with smelly fish food and the female cat could not resist.
Tina and Jo worked as a team to try and lure another cat into another trap but due to the fact that so many cats in the area have now been neutered, it was hard to separate the few that are not.
This is good and bad news!! Good that the teams are making headway with the campaign and bad because it's harder to catch the others. Oh well... such is life! 😁
At 10:40, Jo took the trapped female to the village vet and then at 13:15, Tina picked her up again for a nice recovery in her home. Then at 19:00, she was released back to her zone.
Once spotted, Saskia quickly setup the trap. She created a trail of dry food that led right into the trap.
Once caught, Saskia quickly covered the trap with a large dark town, which calmed her down immediately.
The pretty female was delivered at the vet's office well before 10:00 and returned to her colony in the evening. Upon opening the trap she sprinted away, into the bushes. Hopefully she got to enjoy her evening recovery meal left in the usual place.
Also on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, regular team trapper Jenny was able to trap a black male in the Monte Cala zone.
Jenny set up her trap at 8:00 at a regular feeding place Jenny has been focused on getting the little colony that she feeds all neutered, and with the capture of this male, she has accomplished her goal.
At 8:17 the male touched the trigger and by 9:12 he was at the vet. At 13:00 Jenny picked him up again and let him recover in her house until her was fully awake. At 16:45 he was released back to the colony.
