TRAPPING REPORTS

Wednesday, July 1, 2020, trapper Jacqueline Mellis was in the Monte Cala zone where she trapped a large grey male. He was taken to our lovely village vet Veronica, who was very impressed with him.

All went well and the grey male recovered in a quiet room.

He was then released several hours later at 7pm into a group of his friends who were all then fed.

Friday, July 3rd, 2020 first time trappers from Monte Cala - Murillo Street, Jenny and her girls Evie age 11 and Mia age 9 joined the campaign to make Cumbre a happy cat place. This is their report...

REPORT: Our first cat trapping was a success.  We wanted to catch a black and white Tom cat who was very smart and up to now had managed to escape the trap.  He seemed to know how to get the food from the cage and eat it without setting the trap off!  We set up the trap and watched him from a distance go in,  he started eating the food being careful not to to put his foot on the shelf.  But Evie one of our youngest members sneaked up to the cage and shut the trap door manually.  Then we took him down to the vet to be neutered and at 3, clock later that day released him back to his neighbour hood.  Evie is very happy to be helping.

Tuesday, July 7, 2020 trappers Rebeca and Tina were up in the Monte Cala zone where they captured a black female cat.

The trapping team started at 8:30 to catch this mother of three who has been a tricky client. Finally after tempting the lady with some fine smelling tuna was secured.

By 10:30 Tina had the young Mom into the vets office. The female was ready to be picked up by 13:00 and she was taken back to Rebeca's home to recover. Rebeca actually knows this Mother cat due to regular daily feeding so she could put a fresh bowl of water right inside the recovery box without any troubles.

By 17:41. Rebeca's daughter Mia was able to release her back to her kittens. She was very tame and didn't run off upon release. She stayed and had some food at her regular spot.

NOTE FROM TRAPPERS TO NEW TRAPPERS!!!
Put some smelly tuna on a light piece of paper so that the trigger of the trap will go off easier when the cat steps on it to get the food.
