FUNDING REPORT
Another round of funding was delivered to Veronica the Vet in Benitachell on June 24th, 2020. As per usual, this was well documented with a Donation Delivery certificate and a receipt was issued back from the vet for the cash to pay for her services.
Veronica awarded our efforts with a big bag of cat food. This food will be distributed to the area feeders / carers who are doing a fabulous job.
TRAPPING PROGRESS
Also on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 one of the trappers, Jacqueline Mellis managed to capture a male from the Monte Cala zone, all by herself. She filed this excellent report.
TRAPPING REPORT
- I live in Velazquez, Monte Cala. Tina had delivered the trap and carrier box to me and then gave me 2 trapping vouchers. The idea is that when you have trapped a cat, you hand the voucher to the vet . Then Tina showed me how to use the trap.
The next morning I set the trap up where I feed the cats and placed some tuna in a light weighted bowl.
One cat was very clever and went into the trap, ate some tuna without placing its paw on the platform and left. Next came a black cat who went straight in and touched the platform to eat and snap... it was caught.
I checked and it was a boy. It went a little crazy at first and this made me feel a little bad, but he soon settled down.
I placed him and the trap in my car with a blanket over the top to keep him calm. I also took the cat carry box, so that when he had been sorted the vet would place him in there.
I phoned and told Veronica that I was on my way and remembered the voucher. I took a photo of the cat in the trap. On arrival to vet in Benitachell, I hand him over with the carry box and voucher. The assistant took my NIE number and my telephone number. They were lovely people.
I went for a cup of tea and in approximately one hour they called to say he was ready. I brought him home in the carry box and placed him in a quite cool room for two and a half hours. I then took him down to where he hangs out in the flower beds and opened the box. He ran off.
Later that evening he was with the gang eating with a little bit in the corner of his ear missing. We knew that he was the one that had the procedure.
All in all it was very easy. I intend to do another one Wednesday.
I now have four vouchers that I will hand out to the group of trappers in Monte Cala. If you require the trap, cat box and a voucher, Tina will issue them to you .
It gives you a good feeling to know that you are helping the beautiful cats that we are blessed with.
